i had an accident in 02/01/07 i applied for ssi i was finially awarded total ssi april 09 i only recieved 8000 back time 3000 was given to the lawyer the remaing balance 5000 was sent in the payments 6months apart. i no men who signed up the same time i did and was awarded awhole lot more, why does that happen? also my son was 16 and im soley responsible for him and i was told that since i draw 673 amth total he cant get a check why?
 


Your amount of backpay is determined by when the SSA set your date of disability, not necessarily by the date of the incident or even when you filed.

Everybody's benefit amount is different depending on their specific circumstances.

You indicate you are receiving SSI which means you had no record of payments into SS through employment. SSI benefits are significantly lower than some who receive SSDI.

Again, dependent benefits are only available to those collecting SSDI.
