I agreed to lend a friend $3000 in Oct. 1998. We both signed a contract she wrote up stating that she'll repay the loan "at an interest rate of 2.5% and an installment rate of $270 a month." For two months she paid the amount and didn't start to pay again until 2000 but only $150 a month. After contacting her to pay me more a month she didn't understand her own interest logic and have only paid $205 a month.
My questions are: Would you agree that the 2.5% interest rate is monthly by what she wrote in the contract?
Would I be allowed to demand $500 a month in a certified letter in order to get this over with and threaten that if she doesn't pay or misses a payment I would sue?
I live in WI now and she still lives in IL, would I have to file in IL to sue?
