i want to go to college, can i get out of my lease early?

i would like to start college in a different town this fall. the program i was going to start this year was discontinued on short notice. i would really like to go but im in a year lease and i will still have approx.3-31/2 months remaining.. is there anyway i can break the lease legally for education reasons?

I'm glad you are going to college, because you need more education if you think you can just break a lease for something minor like that!

NO you cant.....You are obligated to fulfill the lease unless the landlord agress to ending it early IN WRITING!

But what you can do is ask the LL to advertise the apartment and you help him rent it as soon as you are gone, then it would be Illegal for the LL to collect rent from both of you...... Also the landlord has a legal right NOT to lose one days rent.

And being that you are moving far the landlord will stiff you for the security deposit, cause he can, and you would have to sue him in small claims court to get it back.
