I am confused, I was 18 when I got my first credit card. I could not pay for it and was charged off. Now, 10 years later, there is a professional collection agency that wants to collect on this debt in next 30 days. The amount of course is more than I ever charged. Can I contact the credit card company to negotiate the amount due? Should I even pay? I had good credit for the last 3 years. Will this ruin my credit again? I was suppose to be a charge-off, doesn't that last forever with the card company?
