I was kept 8days past my release date, is there any way I can receive compensation, and get them to pay the lawyer also.

What is the name of your state? I was incarcerated in the us Virgin islands, then transferred ultimately to Mississippi Tallahatchie county in a core Civic institution.

Why were you held 8 days longer than your release date?

If the receiving state could not accept an earlier transfer, or there were flight delays, there is not a thing you can do about it.

I see no grounds for a claim of compensation, based on what you have said.

I'm a bit confused on exactly what happened here. Were you kept 8 days longer by the VI, i.e. the delay was in transferring you to Mississippi? Or was the 8 day delay in your ultimate release from the Mississippi facility? If it was a delay in transfer out of the VI, do you get credit in Mississippi for those 8 days?

He would still be incarcerated so that goes to time spent.

So the transfer was from MS to the VI rather than the other way around? And the delay was due to the VI sending the officers to get you? In that case the VI should give you credit for those 8 days and, as quincy says, it should not affect your ultimate release date.

He is in Mississippi now, at the Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility (CoreCivic).

The delay was in the officers from Tallahatchie getting to the Virgin Island facility to transport him.

While you say that, the ops statement clearly refutes that...

But I will agree previous statements from the op stated it was concerning transport from the VI to Mississippi

Not really. He just worded his sentence in a different way.

It took 8 days to send officers from Mississippi to the Virgin Islands to escort him.
