What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? TX
I wired four thousand dollars to this guy for a vehicle I wanted to purchase. He asked me to wire the money then he will deliver the vehicle within 48 hours. I have an email address and and address but no vehicle and its been over a week now.
What can I do get my money back?

Call the police.

Tell them that you sent your money to a man you never met over the internet.

They will tell you that they will fill out a report.

Unfortunately, that is as far as it will go.

The dumbest thing a person can do is exactly what you did. Kiss the money good-bye. The thief is long gone.

Do you have a VIN? I bet the vehicle doesn't even exist, or if it does the person you wired money to doesn't own it. Sometimes they will take VINs off car auction sites near the buyers location in an attempt to appear legitimate.

I once replied to an ebay ad of a $30000 car for $5800. Only a few knew this car was rare. The lady wanted me to send the money and she would ship the car. I said I would meet her in person. She then told me she and the car was in Canada. Red flags went up an I backed out then. She even offered the ebays buyer protection. But I just got an email from ebay the day before warning members that scammers had a way of using it too. Auto scammers are everywhere. You should only pay a small deposit and meet them in person at the most.

Do a google or bing search on his name and his email address. Like the other poster said, pull up google maps. Use the little yellow guy by zoom, click and drag and you can be standing in front of his house online. You might even see the car in the driveway. :) Check his name out on facebook, it reveals alot of info. Contact the people where the ad was placed. they might help you out. If you can, find his IP address. There are many ways to do that, just google search IP address.

Good Luck

Tell me by "wire" you didn't use Western Union.

If so you're absolutely screwed. He's probably in some foreign country. Once you send the WU transaction details he can retrieve it anywhere in the world. Western Union is for sending your relatives money, they warn you not to use it for transactions with strangers.
