Hi....

Settlement amount for my October 1999 car accident for which I was not at-fault, the other party received two tickets, my car was totalled, I was diagnosed with soft-tissue injuries, physical therapy/medical bills amounted to approx $5000.000.....

drum roll please....

$12,000.00 minus 33 1/3% for my lovely lawyer = not a whole heck of a lot... :(

IAAL? do you really think I came out ahead here? what do you HONESTLY think I would have been paid if I had not obtained a lawyer?????

My response:

I gather you are not thrilled with the outcome. Your lawyer guided you, and you would have eventually needed him anyway at some point down the road. If you aren't satisfied with the outcome, you don't have to settle. It was only mediation. You can go forward. Tell your attorney you wish to continue. Just remember, I told you that your case was not going to be worth $20,000, or anywhere near that amount. And, so far, everything I've told you is coming true.

You might wind up with, after all is said and done, a gross settlement or judgment of $15,000.00 - - tops. Then take attorney's fees, costs, and medical liens off of that.
