Hi again,

I received a couple of bills yesterday from my fearless lawyer. He needed copies of my medical bills from my doctors (approx $70 worth of copies).
As I stated in a previous posting, my lawyer will be taking 33 1/3% out of my settlement, NOT including incidentals, like the charges above.

So I started wondering just how much my incidentals are, to-date. I spoke with my lawyers secretary and she seemed shocked that I was inquiring about this amount! However, she said she would forward the request on to my lawyer, because she could not answer my question.

I dont understand why that was such an unusual request? I simply want to know how much money I'm going to have left after my lawyer gets done with me...

I was also informed by the secretary that I am also responsible for the Mediators fee!
Is this normal and do you have any idea how much mediators cost? are they paid by the hour??

sorry for all the grumbling IAAL - but I am just not a lover of litigation!

My response:

Hello Haley. Please check your copy of the contract/retainer agreement you signed. Within that document are the terms and conditions concerning costs, fees, etc. Since I have not seen your contract, it's just a little difficult to give you an opinion.

My response:

Assuming a settlement is reached, it should take between 30 to 60 days to complete all final paperwork and to receive a Client Trust Account check from your attorney. (The actual settlement draft must go into, and clear from, your attorney's Trust checking account).

And, you're not bothering me, so stop it. I'm the one asking for updates, remember?
