Me,my husband and our 3 kid's have resided in a rental unit for over 2 1/2 years, the icebox is not working, it has been 4 days now since it broke down and I have tried to reach the landlord/owner many times, with not much luck. On the day it broke down, I left messages on the owners bus.voice mail,on the 2nd day i spoke with the owner and explaind the problem and they said they will try and reach there repair guy and get back to us asap, after no response or word from them I called the landlord again in the a.m of day 3, still no one have come to repair or replace the icebox, I've had to put what ever food that I could into a cooler and, plus purchase bags of ice to try and keep the food cold, now its day 4 and some of our foods have either become spoiled, or damaged.
What if anything can I do, and how can I,if at all, have the our landlord reimburst us for our lost?

In general L has no obligation to reimburse for consequential damages but given your situation, L is liable due to negligence.
You would need to file a complaint in Small Claims Court.

The Hawaii Residential Landlord Tenant Code does not specifically address this issue of food spoilation, but holds landlords responsible for repairing needed appliances right away.

Tell the Landlord you want a working icebox and a gift certificate to Zippy's or L & L Drive Inn. Or maybe some certificates to those restaurants featured on Local Kine Grinds. Den you can invite da kine Bruddah Sam and Lina Girl, but make sure dey no pound all da grinds.
