What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?CA

What type of picture ID is acceptable for a simple short airline flight from California to Montana Without going into the DMV? I do not want to let them tie into my soc. security # now required in California. They can run a complete crime history if they want with finger prints and do a strip search, I don't care, but I will not have them tie my s.s. number to my ID.

The airline should be able to tell you what they consider to be proper ID.

It has all changed since 9/11. Call the specific airline you are flying on and ask them what are acceptable forms of ID.

I fly every freakin' week and the airline has always accepted my drivers license, which does not have my SSN on it.

He doesn't want to go into the DMV. I'll bet he's on the run from a warrant. Maybe even DWI. That's the only reason I can come up with for why he doesn't have a DL and why he doesn't want to go into the DMV for an ID card at the very least.

Get a passport.

A social security card is not a picture id in any case, so I don't know where he's getting the idea that they're going to jump all over his SSN and broadcast it all over the airline system.

If he doesn't have a passport and he can't/won't supply a drivers license then he's up the creek without a paddle, isn't he?

How about a state ID?

Sounds to me like he doesn't want CA DMV to get SSN. They would require that for a picture ID.

And they probably won't give him a passport without a photo ID anyway, I know when I renewed my passport recently I had to show picture ID...

Does the phrase "endless loop" come to mind?

the airlines require a government issued photo ID. ie Drivers License, Military ID, Passport..

All that is needed for a passport is 2 passport photo's, certified birth certificate and then go to "usually" postoffice that processes passports, and send it in , in aprox 3-5 weeks will have valid Passport good for 10 yrs.

SeniorJudge you had the right answer and the right idea. Endless loop indeed. Veronica you are a mega-moron. How dare you make those comments about me, someone who doesn't even have a parking ticket to his record. In this case, an emergency, a member of my family died and I had to get there in any case. I am a minister in bill-collection trouble (if that's any of your business) Why are you making all these posts everyday about absolutely nothing? If you're ignorant of the subject leave it alone, pass it by. Comment on things you can help on.
