I am trying to register a hard cider standard character mark. My question is in identifying the goods. After many guesses and searching, I figure it has to be one of these two:

49 033 Fruit wine A 02 Apr 91 G N T

...OR...

202 033 Alcoholic beverages, namely, {indicate specific beverages} [cannot include beer since beer and related products such as ale, porter, stout, etc. are classified in Class 32] A 21 Sep 06 G N

I feel like the second one is the better choice, because it seems I can specify more than one type of beverage that falls under the name of my company. So let's say it's Uncle John's Cider, if I specify in the description {hard cider, mead, fruit wine} it encompasses a larger amount of beverages so I may be able to branch out in the future without worrying if I will violate the rules of my trademark. Is this sound logic?

What do you think? I know many of you might not know but I'll take an educated guess

Thank you,
Chris

I would definitely agree with you that the second option fits better. Wine is a very specific group of beverage in the same way that beer is. Since your product is a hard cider, it would actually fall into a more miscellaneous category of unspecified alcoholic beverages. If I were you, I'd file it under the second category of alcoholic beverages.
