What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

Last year I gave birth to my son, and it was a painful and long birth that end up on c-section. I got divorce last September and they anesthesia bill arrived on November ($12,000) for my c-section. CRAZY! I called to try to arrange a payment plan but they did not agreed unless I pay $200.00 a month. Impossible for an unemployed with a baby. I send a letter explaining my situation and a $20.00 check asking the anesthesia place to take in consideration that I was willing to pay but I could not afford at the moment more than $20.00 a month. they cashed my check and they send me another invoice stating " thank you to arrange a payment plan, please send your following payment within 30 days" so I did. Since Nov 2008 I have been sending payments of $20.00 for both my accounts on the check. on January they send one account to Collections and recently the other one (even If I have never stop paying them) I am arguing back and forth with collection because the Anesthesia place cashes my checks every time. The anesthesia place says that even thought I am paying them I am not satisfying the minimum amount. What are my rights if any? what I can do? all the letter were certified
thanks! I need same help!

You aren't even paying the interest at 20 a month. They will send you to collections and may eventually sue you.

Why isn't your ex-husband helping you with this bill?

my husband is no where to be found and he was not working last year at all... looser! I do not need him in my or my baby's life! I just think that if the anesthesia agreed to cashed my checks and send me a invoice with a "thank you for arrange payment" why do they send me to collections? anything I can do? sue me?? what are they going to take? my dog maybe?

Accepting the payment does not mean you reached an agreement. They can send you to collections, they can sue you.

You may not have assets now, but that won't always be the case.

1. When you are in the hospital you will get many bills for the same visit. If you failed to make payment arrangements with all of them they will report to collections. The system is the worst way to run a business I have ever seen and it is an insult to the intelligence of most Americans - that said, doctors, hospitals and insurance companies buy more politicians than you or I.

As for you not needing the father in your baby's life, you need to grow up and rethink that. You may not - but your child does. Whether you like it or not, that man is going to be a part of your life forever now that you have children.
