I'm planning on getting a divorce on grounds of abandonment. Husband left us when the baby was just 3 weeks old. Ever since then I've been a full time working mom, taking care of the baby, work & home all by myself.
The house in on my name only and he signed the waiver to the loan, and I bought the house with 100% my money - but the closing date was - 1 month after our marriage date. All the money that was put down, and all the clsoing costs, inspection costs, attorneys costs, etc, were paid completely by me - and I have proofs that the money was all mine - saved from before marriage. Also, at that time he was a student and had hardly any savings.
Q: Although my husband has never paid anything towards the house, and has hardly even lived with us, can he claim any rights to the house, since it was bought only 1 month after we got married? Also, we have maintained seperate accounts ever since the beginning of the marriage, which can prove whose money was spent on the house until now.
Do I still have to worry about even paying him any maintenance in regards to the house?
Thank you for your reply.
