I live in IL and am a frist time adult offender. I am currently on 1 year of court supervision - not probation. I understand that after the 1 year is up and if I have had no other encounters with the legal system I may petition the court to have my records expunged. My question is - How long after the 1 year is up do I have to wait to petition the court? May I petition immediatley after my 1 year period or is there is period of time one must wait? Thank you in advance for your response.

The way I understand from people who have done this: They tried doing so immediately after all conditions were met. The outcome was based on the length of time of the offense and filing of the expunge. I guess it depends on who you file the request to and how serious the charges were to begin with. Every situation is different. GOOD LUCK!!
