Illegal rentals

What is the name of your state? CA, we live in a single dwelling neighborhood, recently new owners are converting the homes to multi dwelling homes. Our street is a dead-end street and traffic is getting ridiculous, for example our neighbor is in a 3 bdrm home with 9 vehicles. As a home owner, how or what can we do to stop these new owners from doing this?

Is your neighborhood covered by an HOA? If not, have you contacted your local Code Enforcement Office regarding this matter?

The city is aware of the illegal rentals, and have done nothing. What is frustrating is being on a dead end street with cars parked all over the place

You call them illegal rentals but I gotta ask how many of them have chose to rent bedrooms out as roommates ? some cities have ordinances that say 3 or 4 non related people can share a home as roommates where the owner doesn't need a rooming house license.

As a home owner, how or what can we do to stop these new owners from doing this?

If the city won't do anything, you probably can't. You call them illegal rentals. Renting a house to a large family with lots of cars or to roommates with lots of cars is not necessarily illegal.

Also just so your clear being a home owner or owner occupant doesn't grant you any special rights when it comes to your neighbors , if a neighbor has teenage drivers and or adult children drivers living with them then its good odds that one home could have four to five or more vehicles. If neighbors violate city ordinances pertaining to parking on city streets then you can choose to call the police.
