What is the name of your state? California

I received a fax to day saying it came from a the law offices of... at such and such addres and a voice number that is a totally different busines and not an attorneys office. I did a search for the attorney which I found located in No. Cal and I am in So Cal and the fax came from So Cal. To further my search I contacted their office and they do have two offices in so cal however none at the address indicated on the fax cover sheet, nor with the fax number listed at the top. There are three numbers and headers at the top of the fax in the header, one which is my fax number than one that is 555-555-5555, which explains itself, the second seems to be a legit fax number yet I have not tried it, however there is another name at the top next to this last number. In doing a search on that name for a an attorney I came up with nothing, I also contacted the state bar and they too had nothing. I have forwarded this fax cover sheet to the attorney up north to review. In the meantime my question is if someone illegeally possed as this attorney and sent me this fax what can, should I do if anything. Personnally I believe its a scare tacktick from someone I have won a judgement from whom refueses to pay whom is sending stuff to my current employer and verbally threatening me because I am following every legal path to collect my judgement which includes sending a copy of the unpaid judgement to the state contractors board whom has now suspended his licesens which started the documents to my employer. This person is an ex employer whom owes me final wages. He has also violated the employment laws in regards to information released on any employee. Luckly my current employer is completly informed of the situation so his tactics didnt work. Isn't this illegal, and punisable in a court of law?

File a complaint with the state bar about these people practicing law without a license.

I'd be interested to see if they do anything. Most states do nothing about people practicing law without a license. There are paralegals and "legal compliance" people out there doing work that clearly should only be done by attorneys, yet most state bars do nothing.

My response:

Yeah, much like yourself, "RhuStooge". And, if you're in Indiana, how would YOU know what "most State Bars" do? Hmmmm?

Don't listen to "RhuIdiot". He's in Podunk, Indiana, and wouldn't know what California does or doesn't do. RhuDummy is, most likely, a "filing clerk" who overhears "law speak", misinterprets it, and then tries to use logic to make it work. RhuDummy has no knowledge of law - - especially California law.

Call the State Bar of California, and file a formal complaint. They WILL take action.

I'm going to enter the abyss here and ask a question:

Was this fax in reference to an attempt to collect a debt or other debt collection activity?

I was awarded a judgement and it was filed by the Labor Commissioner with superior court back in Aug. He hasn't paid me. This is all because now his contractors licenses has been suspended due to the non payment and he mailed a two page police report from june of 03 that he tried to make a charge against me but was unable to and my current boss was already informed than a week letter sent me a letter making threats of sueing me and when he won he was going to file a identy theft charge against me because I placed a levy on his account, if I didn't clear up his suspended liscenses. Than the fax was sent yesturday. Now to update that, I have spokent to the lawyer whoms name was on the fax letter coversheet and it did not come from him or his office. My instincts were correct. I believe he thought I would panic and do as he asked instead of the opposite and do my homework. The funny part is he threatend me to charge me with the da's office id theft and he pulls this. Go figure that. It's been interesting. I have contacted the State bar but now I have to leave part of the situation in the hands of the attorney whoms name was used.
