a car dealership sold me a car they knew i couldnt afford about a year ago, granted this happens all the time and (sadly) is just how they make money, but when i traded in my dads old car they had me sign the title transfer form for a car that was in his name and today i talked with people from the treasury office and they told me that only the person whose name is on the title is able to sign the title transfer form, so my question is, since i was unaware of the title laws and them being a dealership obviously knowing the rules, would that put them in fraud and get me possibly out of my car?

They clearly got the car's title transferred or you would have heard from them.

The only possible fraud I see here is your act of signing the title and transferring ownership of a car you didn't own.

even if they knowingly accepted my signature for the car in my dads name? because i asked about that at the dealership and they said oh yeah thats fine but then as my research would show that isn't legal for me to sign away my dads car, so wouldn't the act of them having me sign the paper as well as accepting my signature on the paper be illegal?

I'd bet their story would be MUCH different than yours.

But it really doesn't matter at this point. This isn't going to get you out of the car and that is what your goal is. If you want to get out of it either sell it or do a voluntary repo.

What is the name of your state?

How old are you?

What does your Dad have to say about this?

Here you are complaining that the dealership knowingly allowed you to sign over the title for a car that you did not own. Have you considered the fact that you knowingly signed over the title of a car you didn't own to the dealership?
