What is the name of your state? Georgia

Ebay.
2002 Tractor in good condition.
It's worth $18,000 - I bid $16,000 and get it.
It's in Atlanta.
I want it shipped to Spokane, Wa.

He says wire the money to his account.

If I do this, is there a possibility I lose it all.
If he doesn't ship it do I have to go to atlanta and look for him?
What if he closes his account and moves somewhere else?

Is there a easy to way to hold the money in trust and he only gets the money once the trucking company gets the tractor?

It tkaes a week to get a paypal account for big amounts of money - like $16,000 - is paypal a better way to do it?

should I just take a chance and wire the money - and hope it works out?

Yes, you could lose it all, if he never ships your item. Ask if you can agree on an escrow service instead.

The auction may say the tractor is in Atlanta but are you SURE the seller is? Ebay frowns on wire transfers. Theft & Fraud being the very reasons. He could be in another country. That's a LOT of money. I wouldn't wire it.

Be careful...whatever you decide to do.

of course you can lose all the money

i would investigate escrow.com.

i was the seller of a domain name for many thousands of dollars. The transfer went well, I got the money. They are reputable.

They will hold the money until you confirm you got the tractor etc. (if you don't get it they will give it back to you)

It is well worth it. Check out the site, call them up, explain the situation, etc. Once you are comfortable with escrow.com (you should be i think) -- tell the seller you want to use it. It's well worth it.

of course for all that money you might want to take a trip and visit the thing first too... or hire a local tractor guy to act as your agent to go kick the tires...
