Who can i contact for info on this matter? Can i call probation office to see if i can talk to his probation officer? I know his p.o. told him to not talk to me & my husband about this & his own mom said if this was her daughter she wouldn't let her near him. This scares the Hell out of me & my daughter is still planning on getting back with him sometime in the future. Ive taken her phone at night & she hasn't been aloud to go anywhere except with family since this all came to light. Also, the high school aloud him back into the school after knowing about his offense & while he's on probation. Really??? That puts girls in jeopardy, correct? I need to know what his charges are to protect my daughter! Please help!!!! Any suggestions??

If you don't know what the "bad boy" did, why do you fear for the safety of your daughter and other girls?

Who told you the boy was charged with rape?

If he was convicted of rape (depending on all facts), he generally would not be allowed back in school with the general school population.

A word of caution: It is harmful to believe rumors and it is harmful (and can result in a lawsuit) to spread them.

My daughter told me what she was told happened. Thats the problem, i don't know what he was charged with. He's saying he didn't do anything but did go there with bad intentions & was locked up for it. He made it sound like he was falsely accused & the other kid got off with no charges but he was the one that did it.

So ... you know nothing. In that case, you should say nothing.

There are all sorts of crimes - big and small - that can land a child in juvenile hall. Rape is hardly the first charge I would think of based on what you have described.

I know what my daughter told me he told her. I didn't just make this up because i don't like him, actually quite the opposite. I did like him & had him in my home. But now that I've heard about this, I would like to know where do I find information about his case so I can protect my daughter. Isn't that kind of crime a public safety matter & should be known by the public? You make it sound like I'm lying or something. I just want some help to find info on his case so I have the facts, not hearsay.

How old is the boy?

Juvenile records are generally sealed to the public. It can depend on the boy's age and the crime for which he was convicted whether there will be records available for you to review.

He just turned 18 in July. This happened a little over a year ago.
At his age, the boy's criminal records would not be sealed if his crime was a serious or a violent one.

You can file a freedom of information request if you want to view or copy the boy's records (although sensitive information will be redacted). You can call the public information office of the agency you believe has the records to make sure you are filing your request with the proper agency.

When you learn which agency holds the records you want, submit your request with as much specific information as possible. You want to narrow the search down for the agency looking for the records. Be clear about what you want (e.g., dates, names). Include your own contact information with your request. There will be fees for copying so you will probably want to put an upper limit on how much you are willing to spend. The cost of copies can add up rapidly.

The agency that holds the records might have their own FOI forms for filling in. Ask.

If the records are sealed, the offense would not have been rape. If the agency refuses to release the records based on one of several possible FOI exemptions, you can consult with a lawyer in your area to explore your options.

I have to question your reasons for wanting the information. If your daughter believes the boy was convicted of rape and still wants to see him, I am not sure what the records will do to dissuade her. You will still have to monitor her if you do not want her to associate with him.

Again I caution you about speaking of the boy publicly. It serves no legitimate purpose.
