3 years ago, we purchased a refrigerator from an acquaintance. During the moving process a glass window was broken due to space constraints and lack of cooperation on the owners part. At the time she insisted that we pay for the damage, even though it could have been prevented. We let her know that she should check into her homeowners insurance. She sent us an estimate that was extremely outrageous, we let her know that we would not pay it and we have not heard from her since until today. She sent a letter to my husband's job threatening to go to his management and to our local paper if we did not deposit money into her personal account within two weeks. My question is whether or not there is a statue of limitations on this kind of situation and if she has the right to threaten a person by saying that she will go to their bosses and if it is even legal for her to do that.
