What is the name of your state? CA
I purchased a Salvaged 2001 Acura Integra on Ebay about a week ago. I understood what salvaged meant so I made sure to ask for details about the car. The man selling the car gave me a list of damage (most of which was body damage, none of which was major). The man said that he was a mechanic and had personally seen the car before and after the accident and that it was running well with "no known mechanical problems" and "as is". I flew to get the car, picked it up and drove it back to my apartment (6 hour drive). Thirty minutes into the drive the check engine light came on. I ended up finishing the drive and brought it over to a friends who knew a bit about cars. He immediately pointed out a few things which were not told to me, I called the man and he told me he wanted a certified mechanics opinion, not my friends. I brought it in this past weekend to a certified mechanic only to find out that the problems are much bigger than I could have imagined. The mechanic listed off 10-20 major problems with the car, he even told me that it is not in drivable condition and to park it. I've attempted to talk to the man several times, he told me he would call me back Saturday night, he never did.
I want to get a clue if I have any legal stance here before I contact him again for a return . My belief is that because I asked for details and he failed to provide me with any kind of accurate description the "as is" can be nullified. Also, ebay has a "misrepresentation" protection that I wanted to know if anyone can let me know if that might help. Thank you for your time and suggestions.
