Dispute Ends in Loss of Daughter
by Greg Johston
Published Jul 21, 2006

Cayuga County Sheriff's Deputies said that a father's decision to drive drunk and not buckle his two children up, ended early Friday morning when he drove off the road, killing his 4 year old daughter.

It happened just outside of Auburn around 2:30 Friday morning.

Authorities said the accident stemmed from a domestic dispute between Jerry Lamphere and his estranged wife. That is when police say Lamphere grabbed his 7 year old son and 4 year old daughter and drove away.

He crashed a shortly after, ejecting 4 year old Brooke Lamphere. She died a short time later at an Auburn hospital. The 7 year old boy suffered minor injuries.

Jerry Lamphere remains hospitalized under police supervision. He faces DWI charges.

Investigators said that criminal charges are pending in relation to his daughter's death.

People who drive drunk and kill should be indicted on murder charges. they chose to drink. They chose to drive. They knew it could kill. Arrgghh. And the mother loses her daughter, the father loses his freedom and the son loses both his sister and dad. Lovely. What a moron.

It's not right

I agree 100%. My sisters boyfriend who sits in prison right now, only sits there for 3 to 7 years. He killed two children. He was under the influence of marijuana.

How the hell does he get to get off that free, when these childrens parents will suffer for the rest of their lives for their loss?

And of course this moron thinks that it's too strict a sentence. My sister too. She's not all there to say the least. I'll never understand what she sees in this guy.

Why? How can you walk away after countless dwi's and posession charges and just not pay for your sins? Why don't they see he's a menace and will eventually end up killing someone else? He's also been arrested and in jail for robbery and other things.

My sister told me he'll get his license back. How can that be? What is wrong with this picture?
