my 7 yr old son's bio father is in for 1st degree homicide in maryland and has threatened to take my child and my life once released. I've been married for 3 yrs and wanted to know how likely am I to succeed at sole custody and stepparent adoption?. thanks

If you were in Indiana, there are statutory provisions that would virtually guarantee a termination of his rights under those circumstances, which would free the child up to be adopted by your spouse.

I would hope that your state has similar provisions.

Ms Giggles, in some states, the crime would have to be against a family member before the termination of PR was automatic. If the crime was against Joe Public, then they would still retain PR.

However, that does not stop our poster from petitioning to terminate them anyway.

We're harsh here in Indiana.

I changed the e-mail addy, as you suggested, and now I'm getting the notices again. Good solution, Mr. Floppy Ears! ;-)
