Sorry to be so long and I am sure editorializing
What can be done? My daughter purchased for her kids's room two mattreses. The mattreses were infested with bed bugs! The place she bought the mattresse from was one of those discount furniture places. They were purchasing the "economy value". These mattreses were wrapped in plastic as if new, the "TAG from so call manuafacturer" was on them. They had the mattreses for about six months and did not know there was a problem until my daughter went to sleep in her daughter's bed and awaken with what looked like welts and mosquito bites. Unfortunatley my little grand daughter had been "a la carte" for these things this whole time and while she was having the "bumps and breakouts" my daughter was taking her to the doctor and they were thinking food alergies, so we were carefully sceening her foods and doing elimination of foods so we could rule out what foods she was alergic too. Well thank goodness her mother went to sleep in her bed. Upon this discovery my daighter called the furniture company to see if they could get their money back for the mattress purchase. The furniture company at first said no but after several days of calling they decided to refund the money and come and pick up the mattreses. I guess my question is, Can they sue this company for selling inferior product such as a mattress? Certainly this has been a very traumatic experience and because these things were in the mattress my daughter had to get her house fumagated and the money that they were refunded back will not buy even one good mattress let alone two. Now the kids are sleeping on the sofa until they can afford to purchase two decent mattresses. The worst of this has been constantly taking my grandaughter to the doctor, paying the co pay amounts as well as my little granddaughter has marks all over her body. BTW, my daughter has a very clean home since she is a stay at home Mom and there were no conditions that would have created such infestation. (In other words the kids do not wet to bed.) I just hate to think that this company can get away selling refurbish mattreses as "Economy value" and get away with it. It should be some health law that they have broken. I will also add the company was very, very, non-chalant about this!

Get a free consultation with an attorney-I think you have grounds, but am not certain. A new mattress shouldn't have bugs by any stretch of the imagination, and it does take pretty darn unsanitar conditiongs for those things to get there.

What the little ones had to go through concerns me.
