My state is Ohio.
Hello all.
My mom had an accident tonight, and i’m just looking for some quick info on what we should expect insurance-wise.
My mom was at a four way intersection with a traffic light. She was on the side with the arrow light, but the arrow was not on (just green), and waiting for oncoming traffic. Across the road is a regular light with a “no left turn,” so the options are go straight or merge right. The guy across from her had his left signal on (on the “no left” side), and was sitting at a stand still waiting to go left. My mom was also unaware of the no left turn, so she proceeded to go left on the pretense that the other guy had his left signal on and was going left. Halfway through, the guy on the other side realized he couldn’t go left and proceeded straight and into my moms passenger side. The impact was in the dead center of both front and rear passenger doors, so she was almost complete in the turn. She also has a witness that stated the other guy had his left signal on and was stopped when she went. The officer on site told my mom that it was her fault because the other party wasn’t allowed to go left at the intersection, but he didn’t write any citations for either party. He also told her that because she was so far into the intersection, and because of the witness saying he did have his signal on, that insurance might call it 60/40 (60 for the other driver, and 40 for her).
I’m just curious as to what we should expect from insurance, and if anyone else has had a similar experience and how that outcome went.
Thanks in advance!
