inheritance while legally separated?

What is the name of your state? Maryland

Have been legally separated for 3 years. Have filed for divorce and spouse did not return papers in required timeframe. Papers will be resubmitted as "default" but spouse has another 30 days. Have just learned I may get a small inheritance from mother's deceased ex husband. Is my soon-to-be ex entitled to any of this money. Is there a possibility he has not returned paperwork and is delaying until I get $? thanks!

I am not an attorney, but I believe that any property or money received by gift or inheritance is yours alone, and does not need to get split, but you will want to check with an atty in your state.
