Is it the Adjustment of Status interview you are going to?
The number one requirement to be granted GC based on marriage to a USC is that the US spouse accompanies you to the interview. The whole point with that interview is for the officer to be convinced that you are a genuine married couple. If the spouse does not show up for the interview, you will be denied AOS and GC and will have to leave the US.

Your sponsor is the reason for you to be considered for GC

My advice to you is to read all the instructions for the forms you had submitted to INS. The only reason you are being considered for adjustment of your status here is because someone (who is your spouse in this case) is sponsoring you. In short, no sponsor, no consideration of your application by INS. But you can write and request a postponement.
