I have a questions- what would happen if one of the parties doesn't show up to the initial status conference?

Good question; but premature. Many legitimate reason for not showing up; and
just how important is the status conference; and what does it pertain to?

For now, was this conference mutually arranged?

Then one who failed (without notifying the Court first with an exceptional reason) that, they
are unable to attend could bring possible sanctions; contempt of the Court, etc.

If this does not suffice in answering your question, then, please elaborate more.

Plaintiff or defendant? Represented or unrepresented? Continuance filed and granted but not served yet? Or no notice to the court? Service perfected regarding the status conference or no?
