Please help! I live in the state of CA
Me and my husband filed a joint return I attached the injured spouse form to it also writing "injured spouse" one the 1040form.
I recieved a letter on May 22,2001 confirming them recieving it. June4,2001 get second letter stating refund was to sent to childsupport!
Also they overpaided us $600 in 99 and they said they would deduct it from our 2001 refund send me my portion and whatever was left send to childsupport.
This is my husband's bill not mine. Is it going to take me forever to get my portion now? would they be able to request back the amount we owe for 99 and my portion from the childsupport? Please respond asap IRS is giving me the run around I was on the phone for over an hour and still have got no aswer.
One last thing do you know how they figure out what the injured spouse's refund is? Or do they just give you half of whatever we would have recieved if it wasn't owed to child support?
