So here's the story that's been bugging me and I haven't been able to study or do anything productive. A couple of months ago, these latino workers came by and offered to help us lay down some paving stones. My dad thought it'd be ok so we hired them. They worked 2 days and then we decided to finish it ourselves the third day. They got angry and and then they demanded their extra pay ($500-600) for the third day. My dad refused and told them to get off our property. A few days later one person came back and taunted my dad "Can you pay this!". It was a medical bill of some sort. In the mail, we received medical, MRI's, Radiology bills mounting up to $9000 from this person for back pain, yet he was working a week after our job at another project down the street.

What can I do? What protection do we have? I feel like we're being victimized here.
