What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New Mexico
My husband and I have been starting to get collection calls for my inlaws..they are giving out OUR phone # and address which is in a different town from their town.....is there anything we can do about it? We haven't talked to them or seen them in over a yr. Is there any laws about them giving out our information? They are giving out fraudulent information.

Are the collectors trying to collect THEIR debt, or is the debt yours/your husband's?

Their debts.....but with our address and phone#

We have nothing tied to them, like I said we have had zero contact with them in over yr.

Give them the correct info. You were listed as references or as alternate contact #'s.

Handle it this way:

Hello Mr. collector. The deadbeats you are looking for live at this address....
Their phone number is this...

That will take care of the issue.

Yeah I did that I gave them all of their #'s and address. It's just an annoyance.
I was just curious if there was something else we could do. And It's actually been closer to 2 yrs that we haven't had anything to do with them. No e-mails, IM's, phone calls, in person NOTHING. We have cut them out of our lives.
