Innocent until proven guilty?????

Hi, I really don't know how this thing works, but I have a question. It involves my wife's family. She has a younger brother and sister. My wife's Mother and Father got legal guardianship of another younger girl. One day the "adopted" girl says she was sexually molested by the Father. Now all of the kids are in foster homes, the father is getting ready to go to jail, and the Mother can never see her kids again unless she gets a divorce. Nothing has been done to try to prove his innocence. No tests or nothing was ever done and the younger brother and sister both say that nothing was ever done to them in that way. I just want to help because I don't want this situation to continue on this path. Something needs to be done to get the kids back and the father's innocence proven. My question is; What can be done?

The fact it was only the adopted child does not mean he did not do anything.. some parents would never touch their own children but faced with daily contact of another ..!!

Anyway, get an attorney for them. It is the only thing you can do.

To re-interate what LB has had to say - his only hope is to retain an attorney and start the long process of trying to get through all of this. You have to understand that in the case of accusations such as child molestation the "innocent until proven guilty" isn't readily applied -- for the protection of children it is more often assumed the opposite and the accused must prove that innocence BEFORE being granted access to any children (not just the one making the accusations). This may seem unfair, but on the other hand if this assumption protects even one child it will be worth it -- hard to see from your father-in-law's point of view at the moment but looking at the "big picture" you see it is true.
There are lots of attorneys out there who have specific experience with these cases and it would be wise of him to find one now.
Good luck and God Bless
