I live in New York City, New York. I gave notice on my previous job on 7/20/05 and my last day of work there was 7/29/05. I declined COBRA coverage since my new employer provides health insurance from day one.

I had an emergency room visit on 7/1/05. Yesterday I received a notice from the insurance company declining benefits. When I called to ask why I was told that coverage was terminated as of 6/30/05. If I had known that, I would have accepted the COBRA.

Do I have any recourse.

When you called your employer and asked them why your insurance coverage was cancelled June 30 when your employment didn't end until July 29, what did they say?
