What is the name of your state? Rhode Island
I had a policy on my common law husband for about 15 yrs. through my job. I paid on it every week. We split up about 3 yrs ago but I kept the policy with his name on it. He married last yr (without getting divorced). He died few weeks ago, and they say I cannot collect on the policy because he was no longer my spouse. (It was spousal insurance). Please advise

If you don't have a copy of the policy you need to request one.

Do you understand what spousal insurance is? Doesn't that pay off only if your husband was involved in an accident--I'm not sure it applies to a death benefit, which seems to be what you are claiming here.
