What is the name of your state? Virginia
On December 22nd 2005 we discovered in the early morning that a pipe burst in a neighbors townhome and flooded our first level family room and entrance. We first tried to work with the neighbors insurance company directly but was given a very low settlement offer and was told there would be no more. So we went to our own company and once again are being offered a very low settlement. We have REPLACEMENT cost coverage, and we need to replace brand new carpet and hardwood that was ruined as well as furniture and replace of course drywall and insulation that had to be removed etc. Cleanup and replacement costs alone are a minimum of around 9k to 10k with supporting receipts from the original purchases of furniture and flooring. What can we do now that the insurance company refuses to budge on paying us enough to replace and rebuild back to our previous state? I also dont understand why our company would not want to pay us since they will be getting completely reimbursed from the neighbors company when its all over? I dont have enough money to pay for a lawyer right now to light a fire under them, so what are my options? Oh yeah, there is also mold starting to grow and we are starting to feel its effect health wise, so any advise asap would be great.
Thanks,
MJ
