What is the name of your state? LA

This is a question for a friend.

He purchased a salvage vehicle four years ago and fixed it up. It was stolen last month. My friend sent the insurance company the information and the police report. They countered approximately 25 days later with a request for further information. He went to an 'interview' at the insurance company where he supplied the additional information (receipts for auto repair, a notarized statement from the auto body shop, names and numbers of three people who could verify the condition of the car). At the time of the interview the insurance investigator said that the insurance company has UNLIMITED time to investigate and settle the claim.

Is that correct? It seems like a real scam because my friend must continue to pay insurance on the car until the claim is settled. Can they honestly take as long as they like to settle his claim?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Most states have time limits on paying claims. Call your state board of insurance and file a complaint with them if necessary.
