Insurance deductables getting waived/paid

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

Is it illegal for a construction company to offer to waive or pay your deductable to acquire you as a client?

The reason for this question is...

We have hail damage on our house and one construction co. wants to do the work and for us to pay the deductable...

a few days later another construction co. stops by and said they would do all the same work with the same supplies but they will pay our deductable...

SO i called the original company and they said that it is fraudulant to pay a customers deductable??? I havent been able to find any info that it is either Legal or Illegal???

No, its not illegal. It happens all the time. They want your business so they offer to do the work for exactly $500 off (or whatever your deductible is) the "retail" price. It simply means that they're charging you full price and they want you to think you're getting a $500 discount. Its how they stay in business - by allowing customers to think they're getting a good deal since they don't have to pay anything out of pocket. They'll likely do a good job on the remodel/reconstruction, and that's how they get a LOT of business.
