Insurance Denied due to Past Bankruptcy???

What is the name of your state? Missouri

While calling around comparing homeowners rates, I found an affordable Independent Agent, but was told that no Insurance would carry my homeowners if I filed bankruptcy within the last 10 years. Is this correct? Is this legal?

coverage will be a lot more expensive, but you should be able to find some.
