Insurance for Independent Contractors

A sure fire way to recruit and preserve a qualified workforce is to offer a health insurance plan. In order to be competitively positioned in today’s business environment and attract and retain a loyal team, compensation packages must include quality health coverage.

However, this is a tricky issue to deal with since it may change the status of a work force from freelance Independent Contractors to Employees, unleashing a number of very costly compliance items.

I am in the bidding stage of a business that calls for entering into contract work with a bunch of Independent contractors.

How do I put a health insurance plan in place without jeopardizing that aspect?

Any suggestions?

Try to get a "franchise" plan, like associations offer their members, for optional insurance, and let them subscribe individually.
