What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Virginia

How does auto insurance for teenagers typically work when the teenager splits her time between a Custodial Parent and a Non-Custodial Parent? Does each parent need to add the kid to their insurance, or can one parent cover all of the child's insurance needs? Is there a recommended way to set up the insurance coverage?

Thanks for any info. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Thanks for the info!

That's kind of what I thought, but my attorney was thinking there was some opportunity here for negotiation with my ex regarding the financial aspects of providing insurance to our daughter.

That would be like asking your ex to pay to insure your car. Remember insurance follows the car, not the driver, but all regular drivers should be listed and rated on the policy.
