What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New Jersey

My divorced brother still has our deceased mother listed as the beneficary on his life insurance ploicy. In his WILL he disowns his former wife and adopted children. When he dies who will the insurance company pay the death benefit to?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

If there are no contingent beneficiaries named and assuming that there is nothing in the divorce decree ordering him to maintain the ex or adopted kids as beneficiaries, then the proceeds will most likely be paid to his estate.

He should read the policy and contact the company to confirm.
