What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
California
I am currently on disability and (COBRA). My employer is "auditing", requesting documentation to verify my spouse eligibility for our health insurance. They have asked for my tax returns and marriage certificate.

I am questioning providing tax returns. Is that usual?

I've never asked for anything but a marriage certificate myself, but there's nothing in the law prohibiting them from asking for tax returns.

You can always black out the numbers.
