I recently contacted a roofing company that specializes in insurance claims as a result of storm damage. I signed an agreement that they were able to contact my insurance company on my behalf to start a claim and if work needed to be done they would be the company to do it. I had the 3 day cancellation period which I was a day late mailing out to cancel but I did mail it out to cancel. I contacted the company on the phone and they were incredibly aggressive and saying that I had to have an adjuster come out. I contacted my insurance company and they told me not only did the company not contact them but I had the right to cancel an insurance claim at anytime for any reason since I do own my house and the policy is in my name not anybody else's. Does this company have a leg to stand on? They gave me no estimate for the repairs if any that needed done, they didn't even get on my roof to see if there was any sort of damage, I gave them no sort of deposit for any work that may of needed to be done either, I only told them that my insurance company was State Farm I gave them no other policy number or anything past the name of my insurance. I feel as though I'm in the right and I should be fine. Is there anything it sounds like I should worry about? Or should I contact an attorney if the owner gets pushy and aggressive again? I live in Cincinnati, OH. Any help or advice would be great!

Then you didn't cancel the roofing contract.

Still doesn't cancel the roofing contract that you agreed to and did not cancel in time. The insurance company does not control the contract terms of another company.

Eh, I kind of disagree with this. The insurance company is the payer so the insurance company absolutely has a say unless the contractor is willing to go against the homeowner alone.
