What is the name of your state? IOWA

What is the law governing ownership of intellectual property created at the workplace, if there is no written agreement between the employee and the employer stating who owns the intellectual property? I have created a lot of software code, I have no employment contract or any other written agreement with my employer discussing intellectual property, and I was just wondering if the code belongs to me or to my employer

Thanks,
kevin

thanks for the reply -

are there any states where by default the intellectual property belongs to the person who created it (the employee) absent a written contract?

thanks again,
kevin
