When I went to the dentist office to have some work performed ($1500 for wisdom teeth removal), I applied for a Care Credit credit card. Care Credit is a credit company that offers credit for hospital, dental, and vet visits. They offer a 12 month no interest plan for large debts that allow the cardmember to pay the amount due off before accruing finance charges. I was approved and agreed to have the work done after confirming with the secretarial staff that I would like the 12 month plan.

Since then, I have received 3 statements by mail (I missed one in the mail). On each paper statement, there were no finance charges until after the 3rd month. This last statement I saw finance charges. Thinking that it was because I had never received a statement that one month and forgot to pay my bill that month, I called Care Credit to explain I missed a payment because no notice was sent, so please drop the late and finance charges and resume my plan of 12 months no interest (if you missed a payment or were late, you paid interest for all 12 months). The account manager informed me that she could drop the late charge but that no one had signed me up for the 12 month plan, which was why I was charged interest. Apparently, someone signed me up for a 3 month plan with interest after that. The account manager informed me that it was on the doctor office's end, not hers, and she could not adjust it, the doctor's office would have to make the correction.

I called the office and spoke to an office personnel there. She (Jen) explained that the employee who had ran my account and entered the information was no longer with the doctor offices and though Jen sympathized with my situation, her computer system would not let her change anything. She offered to call CareCredit and told me to call her back the next day.

I called Jen back the next day and she repeated that there was nothing she could do and for me to call the CareCredit offices again, which I did. I explained the problem again to CareCredit and a different accountt manager informed me that there was a fee involved for reversing an account from 3 months to 12 months and that my doctor's office was probably trying to beat the fee. I called Jen back and let her know what CareCredit said. She assured me that was not the case and said she would continue to look into it.

I verbally told the secretary processing my account 12 months no interest at the time of rendered service. It is not my fault she made an error, nor is it my fault she is no longer with the company (probably because of her errors). What can I do to reverse this situation before it gets worse? I've already paid $131 for three months interest. How do I avoid more interest being tacked on and get a refund for the amount already added on?What is the name of your state?

What does your copy of the agreement you signed say? 3 months or 12 months?
