What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pa. I sold a car on the internet. He sent the money, and I sent the title. The title was lost in the mail. I did not insure it. Whopps! He now wants his money back. It was sold with no guarantee. Can I sell the car again, even though I do not have a title, and is he entitled to have the car? HELP !!

If he will accept a refund instead of the car, send the refund.

Otherwise, you are obligated to provide a clean title. That may mean a visit to your local motor vehicle department to obtain a duplicate.

When I bought the car I did not transfer the title. I just flipped it, then it got lost in the mail when I sent it to him.

You either give him his money back or you get your duff and work to replace the title. He's screwed by your incompetence, dishonest, negligence. If you failed to file the REQUIRED forms with PENNDOT on your acquisition of the vehicle, you need to go find the guy you bought it from and bribe him to get the duplicate and sign it over again.

But, under no circumstances, will this work out that you get to keep the money you have already received AND get to resell the car.

This has been going on for 3 months... which is two and a half months longer than it would have taken me to call the police on you for the return of my money.
