I won an auction on ebay, sent payment, never recieved my package. the seller has told me several times that it is in the mail, but refuses to give a tracking number. my friend works at ups, and did me a favor by checking their database for any packaged en route to my address, but there were none. he lives 8 states away, is no longer a registered user on ebay, and no longer has an aol account. There were three other people jousted as well. Is there anything we can do about it, or just take the shaft??

My response:

I tell everyone I can to never, or to stop, buying over the Internet, just for the reason you have explained. Litigation is far too expensive across State lines.

There are too many dishonest people and companies on the Internet, and virtually no protections in place.

If you can't buy locally, within your own State, then you really didn't want the item in the first place.

ebay purchase

I am not an attorney but have purchased many things via ebay. If you haven't contacted ebay with this problem, you should. They have a FREE guarantee on products purchased via their site which covers items up to $300. Another option would be if you paid for your purchase via credit card. If the item was over $35.00 you can notify your credit card company IN WRITING and possibly have the charge removed.
