What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Louisiana
A Paypal account was opened in the name of my former employer's company. I received a call from Paypal in which I immediately gave the phone to my employer. It seems that someone was trying to get money from her account via the Paypal system and move it to another account. I got all her bank statement together and highlighted all the charges that had come out of the account. According to Paypal, it totalled about several thousand dollars, we only saw that maybe a little over two thousand had come out of the account. She was advised that the money was not transferred to the person's account but that she should change her account information. I got everything I could together making calls and all. The next day, a Friday, I was supposed to go to work but my daughter got sick so I call in and said that I would come late or just come on Saturday to get whatever work done for Friday. So I came in with my sick child and she tod me not to worry about it just go home and wait until Monday. I did not go on Monday because my child was back in the hospital. On Tuesday morning I went to work, leaving my child alone in the hospital. After being there all of five minutes I decided to leave to go back to the hospital. Her son called and asked if I was okay, as he saw that I was not myself. I told him I would be okay I just needed to get back to the hospital, we hung up. Maybe two minutes later I get a call from her demanding that I come back now or she would ruin my career. She then indirectly accused me of doing this "Paypal scam." She said if I didn't comeback and keep working for her that she would ruin me. I told her that I could come back once my child's father made it to the hospital but I didn't want to be at work, leaving my child at the hospital alone its not right. She told me if I didn't come back in two hours I would be sorry. I apologized to her and resigned on the spot because I believe that not only was she not sensitive to my situation but she also accused me of something I wouldn't do. Later that day I received a call from her ex husband who informed me that she called the police and that my name was the name give to her by Paypal. I wasn't sure how true this was until I tried to log into my own Paypal account and couldn't get in. He told me that they had a way to track every keystroke made and that I did it. I know that I didn't do it and I really believe that I was setup because I know some illegal things that she was doing and I told her that I didn't feel comfrtable doing that as it would hurt my career. Anyway-------what do I need to prepare for? Should I really be worried?
