I was libeled several years ago, and now I find that the libel is persisting on Google via the newspaper website that published the libelous interview.
Recently the false allegation came up in a job interview where it clearly made the interviewer uneasy.
I assume that the statute of limitations bars any recovery, but does it bar me from getting the newspaper to drop the false story from its internet archive? I can prove the factual allegations are false, AND the malice is obvious given the context of a VERY nasty "divorce."
I have sent the newspaper proof of the falsity of the allegations, but they are slow to respond.
Wouldn't or shouldn't there be a cause of action in a situation like this--just to get the story taken offline?
Thanks,
Mango
