When we purchased our computer we were given a rebate for signing up for a three year cotract with CompuServe. We were told that they would provide us with a local number or a toll-free number, so we would only need to use them and not our local provider. After we signed up we found out that they had no local number for our area so we were given a toll-free number, but it turns out that instaed of billing our phone bill it billed our Compuserve account @ $.10/min. so we cancelled and offered to return the computer as the only reason we purchased this particular brand was due to the rebate. they refused this and now nearly a yeard later, they are trying to collect the rebate. Do we have to pay it. We were told that in our state (Oregon) providers had to give the rebates without the contract if they could not provide a true toll-free number. What do we do?!
